About Anti-Tarnish Jewellery
Anti-tarnish jewellery is jewellery built to keep its colour — pieces that hold their shine through daily wear instead of dulling, flaking or leaving a green mark after a few weeks.
The difference isn't the gold on the outside. It's the metal underneath. Most affordable jewellery in India is plated over brass or copper, both of which react with sweat, moisture and skin oils. As the thin gold layer wears down, that reaction reaches the surface — and that's what causes the dullness and the green mark people assume is just what cheap jewellery does. Most of our range is built on stainless steel, which does not react the same way. When the plating on a stainless piece wears with time, what's underneath stays stable. A few statement pieces are brass with an anti-tarnish finish; each product page lists its material.
In practice that means you can stop taking it off. Handwashing, rain, a humid commute, sweating at the gym — none of it is a problem. Take it off before a swimming pool or the sea, where chlorine and salt are harsh on any plated finish, and it will keep looking new far longer.
- Stainless steel base on most pieces — check each product page for its material
- Anti-tarnish coating that holds its colour
- Water-resistant — safe for everyday wear
- Lightweight, and most pieces under ₹500

Frequently asked questions
What does anti-tarnish jewellery mean?
Anti-tarnish jewellery is made from a base metal that reacts less with air, moisture and skin, usually with a protective coating over the plating. Tarnishing is a chemical reaction between metal and its surroundings, so the base metal matters as much as the coating.
Does anti-tarnish jewellery turn your skin green?
Green marks usually come from copper in low-grade alloys reacting with sweat. A stainless steel base avoids that reaction, even once the plating has worn with age.
How long does anti-tarnish jewellery last?
Worn normally and stored dry, a well-made anti-tarnish piece holds its colour much longer than ordinary plated jewellery, and any change is gradual rather than sudden. If a piece dulls within weeks, that points to a reactive base metal rather than the plating doing what plating does.
